Failed to Create Task

Jun 9, 2014 at 4:41 PM
Hello,

I tried the instructions you posted, but I am still running into problems when trying to add an SFTP task.

I have a Windows 7 64bit desktop and am using Visual Studio 2010 Shell for my SSIS development (not sure why I can't just the VS 2012 instance installed on my machine).

Here is the error message I get when I double click on your component. Any ideas??

TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio

Failed to create the task.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Cannot create a task from XML for task "", type "" due to error 0x80070057 "The parameter is incorrect.".

(Package)

Cannot create a task from XML for task "", type "" due to error 0x80070057 "The parameter is incorrect.".

Check to see if you have the .net framework 4.0 installed.

I definately do. We have another app installed on this DB Server that uses .NET 4.0 heavily.

I got the same issue once I try to run it on my server.
Any idea?

Hi,
Never mind, I was able to make it work by running it in 32bit mode on the server.
Thank you

Hi,

I'm getting the same error:

"TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio

Failed to create the task.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Cannot create a task from XML for task "", type "" due to error 0x80070057 "The parameter is incorrect"."

Does somebody please have some advice as how to fix this problem. I see quite a few entries in online discussions but almost no clear solution. The moment I drag the component in a package i get the error. Running a 32 bit machine and executed .ps1 script as per instructions for a 32 bit environment with dll in correct path

Your help is appreciated!
Thank you

Roelof, to make this work we had to rebuild the solution files with the provided code because they referenced different dll's than what we had on our servers.
Hope that helps?
Thanks,
Jeff

We are also getting the same error. We are using the most recent dll file 7/8/2014. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

When you say most recent are you saying your server/development system is up to date or that you confirmed that in the source/project files for this task you have confirmed they are correct?

The project worked fine on my workstation but not on our server so we had to build the solution files on our server to make this work.

I downloaded the code and noticed the error on the directory, so ...
We were able to get it to work by going to Visual Studio 2012, VS2012 x86 Native Tools Command Prompt:
which opens to here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\VC>

In here we registered the Assembly using

gacutil /i "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Tasks\SSISSFTPTask110.dll"
We got the response:

Microsoft (R) .NET Global Assembly Cache Utility. Version 4.0.30319.17929
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Assembly successfully added to the cache

If you are having this error it might be worth a shot, because now it works!

Thank you gjaustin, that worked!!!!

@gjaustin that worked for me too. Drag dropping in the assembly folder seemed ineffective but this fixed it.

I'm getting the same error on my local machine. What's the correct way to get rid of this issue?
