Install SFTP Control on a Windows Server 2008 R2

Jan 9, 2012 at 4:50 PM

Hi Cosmin,

We need to install the control into our production environment (Windows Server 2008 R2), in order to be used in our packages, my question is: what is the correct method to register the control and can be used?

Hi Joaquín,

In fact the installation procedure is detailed on the page of the current release: http://ssissftp.codeplex.com/releases/view/78697
---------------------------
It must be installed as follows:
• The DLL must be copied to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Tasks\ folder. For 64-bit systems, you will also need to copy the DLL to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Task\ folder.
• Register the .dll into GAC
---------------------------

That's the simplest way to install it!

Did I answered to your question?

Thank you and best regards,
Cosmin

Hi Cosmin,

Well, since is production the GAC utility (gacutil.exe) is not installed by default, so I copied manually (according this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/427686/how-do-you-install-files-in-the-assembly-in-windows-server-2008) and register the .dll

Normally, you can drag-it (from your initial/source folder) directly to c:\windows\assembly folder... Anyway, let me know if it works as you expect. Thank you!
